Poster for Joséphine Baker's first engagement at the London Palladium- part of a tour she undertook for Moss' Empires in 1937 and 1938. Josephine again headlined at the Palladium in 1974- and returned shortly afterwards to appear in the Royal Variety Performance alongside Perry Como and the Dance Theatre of Harlem. She died on 12 April- 1975 several days after the gala opening of her new show: 'Joséphine'- celebrating her 50 years on the Paris stage
